  A WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome to Immanuel United Church of Christ where whoever you are or wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

Since 1847, our church family has been an active and vibrant community of people committed to answering God’s call to live as agents of love, compassion, justice and mercy.  Together we seek to learn and grow in faith and to serve God by loving neighbors near and far. Our worship, Christian education, fellowship and mission ministries are carried out intergenerationally with wonder and with warmth. If our church can be of service to God in carrying a word of unbreakable hope and fearless love to a hurting world, then we are glad and honored to be on-hand for that work, and we trust that in such work we will be fulfilled and made strong. We would love to have you join us for worship some Sunday morning!

  WHAT WE BELIEVE

An excerpt from our church Constitution:

“It shall be the purpose of this church to worship God, to rightly preach the Word of God, to celebrate the Holy Sacraments; to render loving service toward humankind, and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace. . . . This church acknowledges as its sole Head, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of humanity. It acknowledges as brothers and sisters in Christ all who share in this confession.  We accept the Old and New Testament as the Word of God and the ultimate rule of Christian faith and practice, looking to the Heidelberg Catechism as the authoritative interpretation of the essential truths taught in the Holy Scriptures. We recognize two sacraments:  baptism and the Lord’s Supper or holy communion. . . Membership in this church shall be open to any person who has been baptized, has been confirmed, or has made public confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.”

Worship is central to our life as a congregation, where we come together as the family of God (children included!). We stress education and place great emphasis on our confirmation program which leads our young persons into discipleship as members of the church. We take seriously the responsibility of all members to offer their gifts and talents, working with our pastor as partners in ministry and mission.  We elect men and women to leadership in the church and major decisions are brought to the whole congregation for decision and vote.

We are a part of the United Church of Christ and our roots are Evangelical and Reformed.

“No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”
