A WELCOME MESSAGE
Welcome to Immanuel United Church of Christ where whoever you are or wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
An excerpt from our church Constitution:
“It shall be the purpose of this church to worship God, to rightly preach the Word of God, to celebrate the Holy Sacraments; to render loving service toward humankind, and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace. . . . This church acknowledges as its sole Head, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of humanity. It acknowledges as brothers and sisters in Christ all who share in this confession. We accept the Old and New Testament as the Word of God and the ultimate rule of Christian faith and practice, looking to the Heidelberg Catechism as the authoritative interpretation of the essential truths taught in the Holy Scriptures. We recognize two sacraments: baptism and the Lord’s Supper or holy communion. . . Membership in this church shall be open to any person who has been baptized, has been confirmed, or has made public confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.”
Worship is central to our life as a congregation, where we come together as the family of God (children included!). We stress education and place great emphasis on our confirmation program which leads our young persons into discipleship as members of the church. We take seriously the responsibility of all members to offer their gifts and talents, working with our pastor as partners in ministry and mission. We elect men and women to leadership in the church and major decisions are brought to the whole congregation for decision and vote.
We are a part of the United Church of Christ and our roots are Evangelical and Reformed.
“No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”
